Visit to Keezhadi

During the quarterly leave period, an educational trip was organized on 30th of September, 2023 for 6th to 12th standard students from Chellong Colony, Chokkanallai, Nehru Nagar, Siraikadu, Melaparavu, Munthal and Solaiyur. About 75 students along with volunteers, tuition teachers and organizers participated in this trip. The trip started at around 8.30 in the morning from Bodi and reached Keezhadi museum at 12PM. Keezhadi Museum is a historic place where all the ancient antique things are kept on display.

Students were shown a short film about the historic things and their importance. Students learned that the unearthed antiques are categorised into six topics: Vaigai and Keezhadi, agrarian and water management, sea trade, weaving and beads, and ceramic industry. The Archaeological Survey of India carried out explorations at 293 sites along the Vaigai valley in Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts in 2013-14 and Keezhadi was one of the sites. Later after a detailed visit inside the museum students were clarified with all the doubts they had and they really had a valuable time there.

Visit to Gandhi Museum, Madurai

After lunch students were taken to Gandhi Museum, Madurai. This place is now one of the five Gandhi Sanghralayas in the country. It includes a part of the blood-stained garment worn by Gandhi when he was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. The students were shown with a special exhibition on 'India fights for Freedom' with 265 illustrations depicting the history of the freedom movement.

All the hand-written letters written by our great freedom fighter was preserved and kept in this museum. Students had a great time visiting there and gained lot of knowledge. In the evening after the visit, they were taken to Rajaji park and Mrs. Latha Maheshwari conducted various fun game activities for Students. Mr. Saravanan, a great storyteller, also told useful stories for the students.
